About Me

Who is Olivia Jean Ausnehmer?

Currently, I am a News Reporter/Video Journalist at WINK News, in Fort Myers, Florida. I am also a former intern at NBC Washington, The Democracy Group and LoudounNow

I am living my ultimate dream... covering the news has always been a goal of mine. A more specific goal: I hope to be a successful political or investigative journalist, working in our Nation's Capital someday. You will find all of my work on my website, including my live shots, TV videos, packages, political commentary, radio newscasts, published articles, newsletters and academic papers. My current resume is under the resume section.

In my short time at WINK News, I have experienced and reported on significant events including but not limited to; two powerful hurricanes and a tropical storm, Wade Wilson's death sentencing, a mysterious hazmat situation that left 21 people ill, tornados that left communities ripped apart, investigation pieces that brought public awareness and questioned government officials, and I even exclusively interviewed the Florida Speaker of the House, Paul Renner. While the job gets hard and exhausting at times, I know it's what I am meant to be doing.

As someone who graduated college early with two degrees, I would describe myself as ambitious with a strong desire to learn. I have degrees in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism from Penn State (Dec. 2023 graduate).

I've lived quite an interesting life...

Everyone has a story; mine begins in the City of Love. My worldview was impacted and influenced at an early age having been born in Paris, France and having the opportunities to travel extensively throughout my life. I have found that those experiences have shaped my perspectives and fueled my passion towards knowledge and transparency in all facets of my personal and professional life to empower people through knowledge, breaking down communication barriers, mitigating cultural biases and inspiring change.

I was able to accomplish a great amount in my short three years on Penn State’s campus and a semester abroad. I am the founder of Penn State’s first-ever political TV segment, the Politics Panel. I also held many leadership positions, including the Vice President of Penn State’s entire student television for a year and a half where I oversaw up to nine shows and managed over 450 people. In addition, I also was a news reporter and anchor for various organizations across campus and advocated for Penn State students to school officials and state legislators. Holding myself accountable and being completely transparent has guided me to many successes.

In the summer of 2023, I was a news intern for NBC Washington. This experience tremendously grew my skills in the journalism sphere. During the summer of 2022, I partook in two internships. I worked with Loudoun Now, my local newspaper, and The Democracy Group, a political podcast network. I significantly improved my news writing and broadened my knowledge of politics. In addition, throughout 2023 I was the Marketing Manager for New Voters, a non-partisan non-profit that encourages Gen-Z to get engaged in politics through voting and staying politically active and informed.

It is an honor and a privilege to investigate and report the news. I am determined to report thoroughly researched news to give an audience accurate information in order to make important decisions.
